University of Waikato, Hamilton

As the face of tertiary education continues to change, the built environment of the University of Waikato continues to develop and respond to the needs and requirements of both the providers and user groups within the university. Mansergh Graham have been involved in the ongoing physical development of the university as it has continues to evolve. Both planned and adventitious projects have been developed against the back drop of the Campus Development Plan prepared by Transurban, to produce and coherent and appropriate response at the micro and macro scale.

Central to recent development has been the notion that the university is a complete living environment, providing educational, recreational and social opportunities within the campus itself. The recent development of the ‘Shops’ retail core and surrounding environs contributes to the university as a comprehensive living environment. Mansergh Graham have been involved in creating this environment while bringing to the fore a unique identity for the campus through a number of large and small projects, including lake side developments, student accommodation and roading rationalisation, and the reinstatement of a hierarchical movement patterns.

The projects have included:

  • Overview Landscape Design
  • Resource Consent Planning
  • Hard and Soft Landscape Conceptual Design.
